BUT, for the really high end animation studios, Pixar, etc., the animation standards are so high that it usually requires the artist to focus almost completely on animation.&lt;br /&gt;But again, studying lighting, modelling, etc, can only help us to develop into more rounded artists.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' Learning a little of everything and thus being able to contribute in diferent parts of a project is a great thing, obviously. I used to have my own animation studio and I think the only reason I was able to handle the projects and manage my team was because I knew what I should expect from each team members, and I knew how to solve their problem. &lt;br /&gt;But the bad thing about it is you&amp;#39;ll get too busy solving your teammates problems or completing a project. This actually made me either be too tired to work on my animation skills or not have time at all.&lt;br /&gt;So if you believe that you like to learn everything about animation production well its not a bad idea, and you&amp;#39;d always know what your teammates are talking about actually. &lt;br /&gt;But I think today most companies are looking for specialists, if am not mistaking, because they want you to be the best at the job they are giving you. Either you do it right or your don&amp;#39;t.
